January

So January has been a bit of a sad month as we have had to say goodbye to two of our older animals Heidi our Pygmy goat and Pippa our last remaining Pig from our racing pigs. They were both 14 years of age so they were both old girls. RIP Heidi passed away in her sleep. She was a massive character on the yard and always there to lend a helping hoof especially when paint was involved. Everyone who met her loved her and then I had to make the decision to let Pippa go to sleep one more time as most likely she had a tumour in her uterus. At least she’s with the other 3 now and they can all go racing and causing mayhem together. At 14 years old she was a very old lady and another big character on the yard. This is the hardest part of animal ownership and no matter how many you have it never gets any easier.

We have also been battling with the weather 2 storms (we lost a roof of a stable) all the snow and ice and then of course our least favourite the rain which of course brings more mud with it.

Hopefully now we will start looking towards spring and we can start putting some work into the ponies.

We also had our new stable block put up so everyone now has a house (although the donkeys still live together and so do the two

baby Shetlands) baby Niran has moved into one and the other has been converted into a store room so I don't get anymore.

Winter is here!

As we all know winter can be harsh and it has already started nice and early with wet wet wet. The ponies are enjoying a bit of time off...
